I Think That I I think that I shall never be as slim and lithe as willow tree nor supple as its branches, lean, in slender reach above the stream. Nor will I be as strong and tall as mighty oak, when winters call. Or agile as the cyprus dance above the glades of sweet romance. Not likely will I stalwart be as sentinel beside the sea, yet I will hold my vigil here in prayer and praise of ev’ry tear. For sorrow and joy as well may capture hearts in powered spell, so I will keep my roots at moor anchored in God, feet on the floor. ©October 16, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, I'll seek the lighthouse evermore. I think that I shall never be as slim and lithe as willow tree nor supple as its branches, lean, in slender reach above the stream. ______________________________ But in my own limber essence I shall display my presence as not the willow tree just old and gnarled me. Your poems is a delight. Enjoyed the lovely read this morning. |

Thanks, White Rose, I hope Joyce Kilmer doesn't mind. I love your response, hehehe, though I think you are far from the time of being gnarled. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Amen, dear VAS, Amen So deep, so true, so you! I think I'll slip off to my library and take this beauty with me. EA |
