Purple = Rosepetal Orange = Ghostwriter Pressure is placed upon us all by society Tellin' us stay with our own kind, avoid variety So I'm looked down on for my life's entirety Just because I'm in love with a black male They call me names, I won't go into detail Inner qualities are what we all should be seekin' I'm an equal opportunity dater, don't matter if ya puerto rican I met you my love, and fell for your heart Since then you been atop of my chart but your mama's been conniving to tear us apart She doesn't believe in interracial love Says your too good, beyond and above It doesn't matter that I've always been nice 'Cause in return she's cold as ice And that temper of her's is hotter than fire She wears me down like a flat michlin tire Ran over by her insults again and again Comparing me to none other than your ex girlfriend Bottom line, you aren't meant to be mine For the simple fact that I'm caucasion Your mom's not one to fall victim to persuasion And certainly not about to keep her nose out the situation If only I had long braids and peanut butter toned skin The approval of mom i'd be guaranteed to win I wish she would find a more valid reason to hate me The more she disses me, the longer you'll date me Numerous times I've tried to be the peace-maker My attempts failed but I won't be a heart-breaker Tell mom to stop talking smack cause ninety percent of it's wack Hopefully we can be adults and give it a rest And when its peaceful, she'll hear how my heart beats for you inside my chest How long i have waited for a person of you kind, a diamond in the rough, skin isnt enought to tear me away cause love is blind. our relationship is blissful even when i reminise, just so happens that were 2 different races, what a twist. i know my mother spit some ill words last time you came to dinner. comparing you to my ex-girl, when she wasnt even a real winner. caught up in the olden days when people were seperated, black and white were segregated. lost in the ways of the world when she was younger, when getting lynched for bein with a white chick fuled racist hunger. never will you need braids and dreams of peanut butter complexion, no matter what she says.. this is relationship perfection. i knew it was apparent that i would have to defy my mother, i pictured it different, not a debate of my ladies color. her thoughts would never tear us apart... you won the place in my heart... besides.. were all the same color in a room when its dark. we all bleed red, tears exit our eyes, were all born to live, and the inevitable is to die. she told me to find some one special..and with my life i would spend, that person was you,so now my happiness begins [This message has been edited by RosePetal (10-15-2002 10:37 PM).] |

Parents always have their children's best interests at heart. Sometimes it's misguided, sometimes it's not. |
