The Holiday

Today I’m in a state of rough
Too much guff and too much stuff
Ate until I did not dare
Stand me up or move my chair.

We talked of things that passed each year
Each one a toast and drink of beer
Didn’t know there where so many
Felt like I was slipped a Benny.

I said some things that were not true
But that’s what beer will do to you.
It makes you bloat and float with gloat
The more you drank the more you quote.

Each one had his chance in time
To that we drank and roared in rhyme
It was a merry holiday
And that’s the last I heard them say

I’ll do it again next year
But next year I’ll skip the beer.

serenity,
And you are a love. Did it get cold where you are? It's cold here and that doesn't happen too often.

'morning, Mr. Seymour
I'm glad that you enjoyed your holiday.
I did, too, only I feel stuffed on food.
(eating a big meal with my parents and with
Gary's  parents will do that to you,
especially when both our Mom's are such
good cooks...I'm not complaining, though.
I'm so glad we still have our wonderful parents.)
Anyway, it's cold in this part of Florida, too.
Well, like Karen said, for us. The sun sure is
shining bright, though.
Thanks for your fine poetry with my cappuccino this morning.

Sounds like a merry holiday to me.
My giddiness came from fact we were able to mix many families together and all got along well....The ham and roasted turkey were delicious, but the deep fat fried turkey got a little singed...but what the heck, they didn't burn down the back porch doing it, and I didn't worry about the meat not being 'done'..and surprising, not too dry...it too, was delicious.

Enjoyed your poem a great deal. We stopped at one toast... and that is a good thing!

Warm regards, Pat

Elizabeth,
Always say I won't do it again, but I always do. I'm just a weak character.
No hope for me, LOL. Hope you had a wonderful holiday and who did the cooking?
Take care and be well. Love Sy
