Welcome to the real world
That’s what they always said
Yeah it’s great to be here,
7 in the morning - crawling out of your bed,
Away from your sweet embrace,
I was lying all along to my heart,
B/c of a reality I couldn’t face,
I should’ve seen it coming,
Lord knows the signs were there,
How foolish was this naïve heart,
To think that you would care,

Welcome to the real world,
It’s hurt, confusion, and tears,
It’s living, loving, and learning,
It’s screaming, it’s laughing,
It’s overcoming all of your fears,
Welcome to the real world,
It sucks and it’s harder then hell,
But honey you’ll learn to love it,
Something’s you just can’t never tell

Went crying to my friends,
Asking what they thought,
And how quickly they saw,
How easily I’d been bought,
Girl, they laughed so softly,
It’s not your heart he’s trying for,
My heart was blind to see
The obvious in store,
They smiled at me and told me,
It’ll be okay girl,

Welcome to the real world,
It’s hurt, confusion, and tears,
It’s living, loving, and learning,
It’s screaming, it’s laughing,
It’s overcoming all your fears,
Welcome to the real world,
It sucks and it’s harder then hell,
But honey you’ll learn to love it,
Something’s you just can’t never tell

And here I am in the real world,
Walking away from your door,
Moving on baby,
Picking my pride up off the floor,
You’ll soon be a memory,
A lesson I learned long ago,
You’ll be a handsome face in a picture,
Some guy that I used to know,

Got to learn things for yourself,
Got to make your own memories,
But your hardships on the shelve,
So here I sit in the real world,
Wearing a smile on my face,
Bitter sweet memories got me thinking,
It’s not that bad of a place. . . . .

You just wrote one heck of a good poem on "living, loving, and learning"---and it appears that you have been walking the talk!
