Native American Song

The maiden sings-

My hair is black and shining
My skin is brown from long sun
My hands are good for work
My body, strong and quick

I have no voice for words
But I will sing my love in old songs
And you will hear my song
As my father heard my mother’s song
And you will answer

The brave sings-
You have no need for words
My heart has heard your song
As my father heard my mother’s song
And I will answer

Your hair is rivers of night
Your skin is soft to touch
Your hands are gentle for touching
Your body, round and well-made

My arms can draw the bow
My back is strong for hunting
My eyes can see far
My heart knows the old ways

I have no voice for words
But I will sing my love in old songs
Your heart will hear my song
As my mother heard my father’s song
And you will answer

The maiden sings-
You have no need for words
My heart has heard your song
As my mother heard my father’s song
And I will answer

Your arms are my protection
Your back is broad and pleasing
Your eyes have seen me smile
Your heart beats with mine

They sing-
We have no need for words
We have spoken love in old songs
Our hearts have heard the song
And we have answered
We are two, but one

Wonderful imagery Constance ... a lovely piece to help us know that we can often be heard without a single word being spoken. Very much enjoyed!

Best wishes,
/Kit

(smiles) Oh Constance, this is soooooooo gorgeous, sweet friend, I love it, and I wish true love shappiness to always whisper in your heart with the grace of the eagle, the triumph of the bear, the youth of a young fawn! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Constance, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Sunshine, Kit, Noah,
Thank you all so much for your kind replies! I have been away for such a long time. I'm so pleased to be back among the good and gifted people here.  I could spend so much time reading and enjoying the work of others that I have little time to jot my own thoughts. A visit here is always a treat, and often a humbling experience for me. Thanks again.

Constance,

This is beautiful. You've captured true love.

"I have no voice for words"

and...

"We have no need for words"

...when hearts unite, there aren't words... spiritual, emotional and physical in nature, love is there as solidly as the sun, moon and stars.

I love this this poem.

Warm regards, Pat

Thank all of you for responding so kindly to this one.  I have a CD with Native American drum and flute which I brought w/ me from AZ.
Listening to it inspired the song.

WOW that pulled me in and kept me. What a wonderful song. I feel like I understand something I didn't understand a few moments ago.

... and they sent him home happy ... one hundred percent.
