The Trail Of Their Tales

Passed down through the pages of history
hauntingly, the legends have been re-told
man tries to figure out the mystery.

Unfading are those by gone days of old
embedded throughout the annals of time
their hopes and dreams stolen, they have been sold.

I continue to write my words of rhyme
passing along their tearful trail of tales
their spirits soaring, continue to climb.

We hide behind a shameful past of veils
to hear them speaking of peace, I still try
but alas, I too often hear their wails.

Listen to the great spirits held on high
their message I continue to impart
hear the hoof beats of time thundering by.

Their legends of life will never depart.
Feel the spirits reside within your heart.

{I dedicate this to my "mummsy" for always
pushing me the way a real mom would..
You are so very appreciated and loved….
thank you for believing in me…… }

"When we're torn apart,
shattered and scarred,
love has the grace to save us"
Saints and Angels as sung by Sarah Evans

I know that you can   "read"   my words...
but can you        hear   "me"?

Donna, your mum is very proud of you, I know!     This is not only creative, but giving of understanding, and compassion.  To have been done in a style not familiar to you shows true love for the art of poetry, which you hold very close to you.  This is going to be a favored reading of so many eyes...

Donna, I love the "trail of tales" that you're taking us down.
I also love the dedication to your Mom. I know that she has to
be proud of her daughter. You write with such
a heart full of love.
Thank you, Donna, for sharing your feelings with us.

I want to thank you all for leaving such wonderful thoughts behind.
As many of you know from past posts, my own mother died when I was at a very young age.  For most of my life I never had a mother figure, other than my father.  He never re-married. Most of his life was spent raising my two sisters and I.  He was a very dedicated man, and even more than that, he was Our Greatest Hero.

There is a very special lady who has become to me much like the mother that I have never had.  She has helped me to continue to grow,
not just within writing my  poetry, but also in becoming a better person.  She has many times calmed me when sorrow would over take
me and she has helped me in my battles when depression would try to run my life again.  She has nurtured me the way that  a real
mother would nurture her own child.  She has given me a gift that I can only hope that I will be able to pass along to my own daughter.

I have dedicated this poem to that special lady who has touched my life and helped me to reach to be a better person.
Although I have never heard her voice, nor have I had the pleasure of being in her presence........

I have felt her heart.
It is with pride that I look to her as the mother that God has blessed me with.  I can finally say the word "mother"

Mum.........

{sorry for being so long winded}

Sometimes the softest footsteps
carry the heaviest hearts...

The truth of the matter is that we have
seen you grow from a budding poetess
to a full-fledged Poet who takes on new
challenges, whether it be in life, or through
your writing, and you have done it all with
a style of grace and gentleness that some of
us will never know.

A Terza Rima is not easy to write...
but on you?  They look very nice.

Could you do one more?

Again your pen reminds us of that which should never be forgotten.  I can't really "critique" this as it appears to be written correctly from what little I know although the meter isn't exactly consistent, but you already know I can't write any of these things so I won't complain!  Hugs mi amigo.
