Obedient chain saws,
coughed in protest as
injured trees screamed at
laughing men who stomped
the dying rustle of their
leaves into permanent
silence.

Radrook...Reminds me of a recent story on T.V. about a man in California that took up residence in a 400 year old oak tree to keep it from being cut down to make room for a road. Enjoyed very much...Paul

Radrook, I really hate for all the beautiful old trees to be destroyed. Thanks for this powerful poem.

And the loudest most painful cries are surely coming from the old growth trees that were rightful owners of the soils long before we ignorant two leggeds showed up.
Everyone should go hug a tree of life, and listen to its heartbeat while there are still trees alive to exchange our polluted air for the breathable stuff.
A good write, thanks for letting me add my ramble.

Hi Everyone!
Thanks for the feedback.
Glad you enjoyed the poem.

Certainly, I agree! The abuse against our forests should stop. Not only the cutting, but the purposeful setting of the rain forests on fire for the purpose of turning them into temporary grazing land for cattle and use the trees as charcoal.

The Brazilian government should be held accountable by the United Nations for allowing it crime against nature. Astronauts say they can see the fires burning from space! What a disaster!

God bless!
