Saltwater Marsh

This
interest of the sea in claiming;
the subtle way it feels,
easing salinity,
as tidal influences
layer themselves throughout the estuary.
The river yields,
eventually,
its youth into a marsh.
We all ooze
naturally,
whether as fog, cool and nervous,
or warmth, deliciously composed
as though the south had transported
languor and the smooth, round hips of swamps
up north. Only the heron stalks
idly, unmoved by sex or love,
its beauty,
frozen.

Bob

I like the subtle change here...making it more human.
