That’s What Friends Are For...Between the Lines
By Larry Chadwick
Inspired by an exchange with Toerag.

I remember when we met,

That’s what friends are for
And instantly we clicked.
That’s what friends are for
I knew that I could trust you,
That’s what friends are for
Even if I made you ticked.

Our friendship was a match,
That’s what friends are for
Right from the very start.
That’s what friends are for
One always thought of the other,
That’s what friends are for
Even when we were apart.

There for one another,
That’s what friends are for
Through the ups and downs.
That’s what friends are for
Taking time to be available,
That’s what friends are for
To make smiles out of frowns.

Celebrating small things,
That’s what friends are for
Enjoying all that is good.
That’s what friends are for
Not forgetting the hard times,
That’s what friends are for
Although we wish we could.

Counting on your friendship,
That’s what friends are for
Without a balance sheet.
That’s what friends are for
Knowing that it’s real,
That’s what friends are for
Makes life really sweet.

I keep you in my heart,,
That’s what friends are for
And pray that you are blessed.
That’s what friends are for
Trusting God for His favors,
That’s what friends are for
Knowing He’ll do the rest.

Can I keep this one? It's the nicest friendship poem I've read in a long time. Thanks for sharing.

A beautiful sharing of friendship and caring Larry.  Well done.

love has the grace to save us"

Sorry, but I was out of town for the wedding of a boy I raised(not my son, but I claim him).

Kacy,
Well, of course you can keep it silly! And thank you.

Ethel,
And a good feeling it is indeed. Thanks.

Donna,
And a dear friend you are. Thanks.

Kacy,
SURPRISE! And you thought I was done. Actually, after I put it up it occured to me it made a better "red letter" edition! THANKS.

M,
I'm with you on that one! And thanks.

Karilea,
THANK YOU! And it took me a bit to realize that's what this poem needed to be.

Thanks.

Shenachie,
You always get the nuances. You are a sweet woman. Thanks.

Cpat,
Hmmmm. That wasn't what I was thinking of, but how nice. Such kind words. Thank you so much.

angsana,

Vicky,
Well now, thank YOU. And hey...how was that Pathfinder outing? I've been there done that countless times and always enjoyed it everytime. Hope you did too!
