This is a follow up to "Begun To Grow", so if you haven't read that one, then do then you know why I'm writing this one...thanks! "Old Man Jenkin's Tale" (23/06/03) © 2003 Brian Eggertsen, All Rights Reserved The aroma of grand old spice Hangs in this uniform from 'Nam, The star goes on the trophy wall, Served his nation well the old man. Sometimes I put it on and pretend, With Dekota as my soldier friend... Dream myself into old man Jenkin's tale, Shooting left and right looking kind of pale, Scribbling out the lines tryna write some mail, Leading my platoon trying not to fail, And I am trying hard not to prevail. When I, Dream myself into old man Jenkin's tale. He'd talk about Job and Eric, And how they took out the Vietcons. How two weeks later they were dead, Didn't have a chance 'gainst the bombs. Sometimes I play General Jenkin's, I'm fighting hard, fighting intence... Chorus Watching the uniform in the closet I think of the old man that I once knew, While getting ready to walk Dekota It's like there's something I forgot to do. It seems like there's something I forgot to do... Chorus [This message has been edited by Hallucination (06-24-2003 09:45 AM).] |
