Insomnia visits me, Along with your memory... Making it even harder to sleep. The bed is now emptier, Unoccupied by the one I love; Leaving me alone With the realization that You are gone for good. A glass of rum and coke Sits beside me On the nightstand. Frequently I take sips, As I write you this poem. I piece together The memories of our past. Deep in thought, I remember how you hated That I smoke. I turn and light up a cigarette. Calming my nerves, I relax my entire body. Laying back, I close my eyes Awaiting the sun to rise.* "In life you must dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening and love like it's never going to hurt..." |
