MY HEART AND SOUL

You have my heart
You stole it
But I don’t want it back
For what I could have with you
Extends far beyond the sea
Farther than the farthest galaxy
Deeper than the deepest ocean

Wherever you go, my heart goes with you
Forever,
I’m committed to you
Even in the case of war
I back you 100%
You never will be alone
For you have my heart

Remember me
Through the hard times
Through thick and thin
Love does not sit back and wait
For something to happen and destroy it
Love endures forever
And ever
I will love you

The thought of war sits like ice on my back
Cold and rejecting
Stealing the heat from my body
And making my soul dissipate
Loosing hope
Yet, hoping the ice will melt
And everything back to normal

I hope to God that it melts,
And you will warm my heart once again
With the music playing in the background
Your arms wrapped around me
Your eyes looking down upon my soul
With reassurance of hope,
Love,
Peace,
And normality.

This is a poem about a guy that I knew a while ago and he was in the National Guard and this was when we started to go to war, especially after 9/11. I think it is one of my best pieces.
