Surrounded by solemnity tonight, Angels sing Quiet requiems for me; Prophecies lay unfulfilled, Dying amid the shadows, As they fall. Tiny silken raindrops, Melted tears, Painted cerulean But stained with a darker, poignant blue. Lay me down, More softly now, Fingertips grazing the glassy surface of a life, Quickly fading... Swaying, lost; I exist solely within gilded days, And they, too, will not dance. Ancient sighs are woven into the air, Blissful winds, Tinted a grayish song... Calling. I let my eyes close, And someone is standing there. She's black, All black; Only eyes piercing a sapphire sword into my soul. Ashen skin, Laced delicately with fragile bones, Her whole mind drinking in the seas; Hair blowing, It shines a bluish hue, like the raven's wing, And she watches as the water sings, Christened; Black ocean tide. 'Neath the sky's silvery darkness, There is so much blood. She still stands, Crying this liquid, crimson flood... Milky face, Tarnished; Her existence mirrors my own. Seeing waves crash 'gainst shallow lies, Mournful things. Breathing, Illusions dipped in tragedy; The world yields its silence... We both pray wordlessly- Watching, Waiting; Feeling mortality slip away, And so you go... [This message has been edited by IndigoEve (06-01-2003 04:38 PM).] |

Wow. This is really amazing. I love your imagery; you're evidently a mature, sensitive poet. Write more soon! |

I love the imagery too! This poem does more than "show" the time/place, personally I "felt" it as well! Which is something I don't think I've ever said before. Excellent! Share more. -matt |
