Standing In Silence...

While I sit here,
in my cell,
I heard a whisper.
I turned to look,
but no one's there,
just dust and dirt.

Sleep no longer,
is welcome here,
slowly slipping into a trance.
As my eyes close,
something brushes against my cheek,
but nothing's there.

Wildly becoming paranoid,
my eyes remain open,
to watch nothing.
I search this sqaure,
for the thousandth time,
to find something, anything.

Searching, Searching,
all in vain,
more dust and dirt.
But what's that in the corner?
a single rose petal,
the only left to comfort me now...
