floating down a river...

I don't think that I
Was ever truly alive.
Until Friday evening:
Sitting shotgun in your car.
Never thought I'd be this
Close to you.
It's warm enough to
Roll down the window.
And I lean my head back
Laughing at what you just said.
While those other two
Make out in the back seat.
You like to speed
And I like to feel free.
You get mad at the red lights
And I tell them to keep coming.
I like it when you laugh at my jokes.
In your car
I forget about sadness.
I forget about depressed friends.
All I know is
I was never truly alive
Until tonight.
