I'm thinking of Professor Gloom
and how very sad he seems.
I wonder if could speak to him
inside his saddest dreams.

Could one bring to his heart
a soothing, pleasant glow
that would spark the love down deep inside
and make joy something he'd know.

Could one bring the sunlight
to the thoughts he holds within
and somehow turn his countenance
to the name, Professor Grin?

Yet, someone's said, it's quite important
to have shadows against the light
so the joys of wondrous living
are perceived as extra bright.

So Gloom you go on writing
of sadness or of woe,
and we will thank you for your talent
and the brightness that you show.

I must have missed this the first time through,
And yes Virginia, Professor Gloom does exists.
He celebrates no holidays, no birthdays, and no mirthful occasions.
He, I, we that are he, simply exists like Gloom itself,
Lingering in the shadows of our society.

I am touched by having a poem,
And a good one also, named for me.
I do answer e-mails, although sometimes a touch slow,
But I do try to get to them, when the spammers are jamming my account.

I will continue to write,
It is my curse, or yours for being subjected to it,
And even if you don’t see a post, I’m still writing.

Gloom
there are many poems at my web site,
which I am trying to update these days

Gloom,
Glad you finally saw this, since you liked it and all.

Glad, too, that you posted it too as I didn't know you 'other'name and almost didn't open your e- mail. Generally I don't open anything if I don't know its origin. I'm a big chicken!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
