The winds blow calm at summer's die, Breathes sweet the lea beneath blue sky, Pumpkins ripened on the vine As hunter's moon above does shine. Autumn rises from her sleep, From her awake does harvest leap, Cornucopias of fruited plain, Yield bounties of Demeter's grain. A chamber grand, high heaven's vault, Shines on the joy of fall's exalt, Verdant valleys, rising mist, Flora and fauna by Helios kissed. As zephyr warms a cooling land, Last vestige of hot summer's hand, Autumn's palette, trees ablaze, Night steals away the length of days. Fiery hues of autumn's glory, Portends Persophene's purgatory, Maples cloaked in short-lived splendor, As mortals reap of harvest's rendor. Wings of geese at frost's first bite, Vicissitudes of summer's flight, Behold the end of summer's reign, Behold fall's wonder beyond explain. Fairwell to summer, its passions stole, For in the autumn, lies mortal's soul, I walk along a country lane, Amid the autumn; 'mid gods' ordain. |

Sometimes I just like to walk in the autumn and listen and you can just hear her speaking. Well done and wonderful writing. If I have touched one heart through my words, then I have acheived my dream... |

Thank you all for your gracious replies. Muys, if my mathmatics is correct, it is 25 degrees here in Kansas. I have enjoyed reading your daughter's poetry for some time. I am sure she is enjoying her vacation to the U.S. I am also sure she will be glad to be back in the Netherlands. It is always nice to return home. bedankt for the reply. Tim |

(smiles) Oh Tim, this is lovely, I love the autumn so much because of the colors and the comfortable weather outside! (sigh) This is wonderfully descriptive, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Tim, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Tim, You write well of my favorite season. It read like the autumnal winds blew a few pages of the Iliad into the field. |
