Behold the conquering hero, the mighty platypus, wends his way from here to there, aboard a Greyhound bus. Born and weaned in Amersterdam, he moved to North Dakota, as a pup til age fourteen, then left for Minnesota. He'd heard tell of a shopping mall, as big as big can be, hitched a ride in a Winnebago, to see what he could see. Through the food court past the GAP, Old Navy in his sight, a little girl asked of her mother, do platypuses bite? He turned and smiled, said not a word, just went about his way, his Master Card had done expired, no need for him to stay, He took off and headed south, his goal Old Mexico, Is there any other place, a platypus would go? Down the Mississippi, to Hannibal Missouri, stopped to paint a picked fence, there was no need to hurry, Then on south our hero went, our mighty platypus, He'd caught a ride for fifty cents, aboard a Greyhound bus, The bus got lost, went round and round, just like this here fine po'me*, So our mighty platypus, never made it home. *Kansasese for poem. Tim - I know a TRUE story about a chicken in Nova Scotia that got on a bus and rode to the next town!! lol. This write reminded me of it and gave me a laugh - thanks. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |

Tim, A platypus stops to meet Mark Twain. They are both silenced. (that was the, uh, punchline) Mike |

Ah, another side to the poet! You do humor as well---and very well at that! P.S. I wrote about a platypus too! Just the word itself is funny! hehe ~ smiles ~ EA |
