Tacking into the Crimson Sunrise |

Wind is blowing in, Gently from sky of crimson, As the ship criss-cross The tacking is time that’s lost Of the coming day, But we’re at last underway, And time matters not Yesterday is now forgot Heading for the sea Away from the cruel city, Where bars are a home And the spirits are cold stone Washed in heroin, Conversation can’t get in. They’re looking for bucks Mindless devotion to crux Of needles sickness. I slipped off in the darkness Sails of white canvas That I hoped would wind caress, Yet it blows inward And I long to be outward. The low tide rides in Holding me back like the wind, But I’ll cross it too Leaving the dark city to you Wishing for my coins And I gave you only scorn Not filling you up I don’t drink a dirty cup, Me you will not miss, I return to my mistress The real honesty, The great lady of the sea, Beneath crimson sky Across the surface I’ll fly To get far away From binding harbor and bay, So I set my eyes On this day’s crimson sunrise, Tacking into morning’s wind. Professor Gloom, as always, you have painted a picture with your words. I could see the crimson sky, the sails on the boat, and feel the wind. Very good writing. Thanks for sharing. With Love To All, Ethel |
