In a distant town that brimmed with holy light, I found no sorrow, no oppressive night. All its citizens were always best of friends, And their deeds of goodness never had an end. In the briefest moment that I lingered there, All their glowing faces never were despaired. Every visage that I saw reflected peace. Integrity and goodness never ceased. In surrounding fields still dark they sowed their seed. And I chose to sow along in every deed. And the darkened ground began to pulse with light and the brooding shadows cringed and took to flight. Then the sky became as brilliant as the day's. Sickened children were no longer fragile clay, and the drift of ages grew forever still While the citizens obeyed the Father's will. Than I left the town and knelt by streams of dreams that had taken me so distantly it seemed and reflected on their surface was my face with the glow of Godly reverence and grace. Thank you all for your responses. The poem is based on the wonderful promises found in the Bible about a new earth where rightiouness will prevail. 2 Peter 3:13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. Thanks again! God bless! |
