There were no green eggs here No ham with cute little socks Only the work behind the counter At the Downtown Grill of Hard Knocks It was an old converted caboose Barely big enough for the crew But it was the first job I had And the only thing I could do Just burgers cooking quickly here No fries, we had no deep fryer Homemade chili was the hit Homemade pie was everyone’s desire Alone, I closed the place at night I was just sixteen that year Back when life was simpler And I accepted friends without fear He was married and very suave He thought he was a ladies man The other girls loved him But in me he found no fan One night he found me all alone He complained about his wife When he laid his hand on me I held him off with a carving knife He looked surprised at my action But he still backed out the door I guess he’d never heard The word ‘no’ before [This message has been edited by Poet deVine (10-09-2002 04:40 PM).] |

Some people don't understand "no" for some reason, and such a simple word! Great poem. |

Lol...so in addition to head comedian bartender, ya wanna be a bouncer, too? Enjoyed this, Sharon. Love the title. |

Poet deVine, I like the way you wrote this poem. It's very good. Thanks for sharing. I've read your poetry on the main site. I love it. I haven't seen you here very much, though, since I've been here (only since last week). Thanks again. With Love To All, Ethel |

Just wondering what kind of a tip I should leave. Thank you. What light through yon window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. |

my goodness goddess devine--you channeling ME again? *chuckling* sounds like a comanche moment to me! Loved this..."no" can be quite "pointed" at times, eh? HUGS |

This is based on a true story. When the harassment started, I asked the Police Chief what my alternatives would be if this guy got out of line while I was alone at night. He suggested a pot of hot coffee poured in the guys lap. I did pull a knife on him and he backed down. He never came back after that. You don't mess with deVine! |
