standing on a shadow's lace

You Are A Holiday

tricked before
you are my treat
pulling me
from the autumn
vine of love
you call me
pumpkin
and decorate me
so delicately
slicing fine lines
in thick skin
to bring
the inner beauty
of me out
so around you
I light up
even in darkness
your candle
has found
the core of me
to make
a soul beam
in softest tones
sweet candy corn
you are a holiday

I’m not disappointed, I never expected anything from you.
