In the name of
one word,
the truths of both
poet and brute reverse,
soon they’ll loathe
its burdening curse.

In the pursuit of
one word;
mute fools call love,
both ink and blood,
are shed ounce for ounce…
in equal amount.

From our fouled mouths,
every vowel, we dare
to declare is a cancer,
Deeply rooted,
From “I” to “U”
with “love,”
in between
us
Divided on either side
of its impossible riddle,
one word composed in the blood
of "U" and "I"
by brutes and poets,
The Universal concerto
of grand piano,
Oboe, Cello, and lead violin,
I played second fiddle, barely audible,
in the applause
I was not even mentioned,

In reflection.
I was never in question,
merely its mark;
with a meek spine
hunched to a hook.
Too blunt to tackle bait,
I sank in the pursuit
of the moonless tide.
At my feet a lead weight
holds me undertow.

Fathom by fathom
The distance to sea bed and your continental
grows by the gallon.

I wish I’d been the dolphin that breached your shore
deeply rooted
with “U” and “I”
in union
and “love”
between us.

In reflection
it was not an impossible riddle.
This One word
of unquestionable devotion,
to the brute and poet.
that was you and me.
on paper at least.
Yet in the flesh,
we failed to leave our mark on the ocean

As we sank, Fathom by fathom, drifting further apart.

And if there ever was a riddle
the answer should have been obvious
it is you.

The only word that ever mattered..

You.

My favorite line was "with “U” and “I”
in union and “love” between us.
I also donot know whatelse to say..amazing..that your muse summed it all up with one word.."You" and thensome..enjoyed funny my muse hasn't even mustered up the courage lately to say such things, or wait I haven't mustered up the courage to listen really..

Consider yourself fuzzed

Brian

You have always been an amazing poet...between the last word and this word...I see thought...the food for a hungry muse.

You call these rants...I call it classic Bri-poetry. And you know I am loving these rhymes from you!!
So many cool lines in this Bri...
so many cool and clever analogies and images...

In reflection.
I was never in question,
merely its mark;

very cool verse...and I loved the first two verses and the continued theme of this with the poets curse and our constant struggle with muses and writers block...and the end..
the achingly, angsty perfect ending to this...perfect poetic impact and closure.
Rant on my friend...you rock.

In the space between now and then
I lost the fire, lost a friend
and Ill never be the same again
Still, I believe in the innocence
we gave away.

The word of the poet has always been the word of eternity.

Thank you.

Karilea,
One word is not
enough, in which to voice
my thanks for your replies,
always full of kindness
and sunshine.

Maureen, thanking you.
we are all an inspiration to each other.

FFF, don’t worry your muse will show up soon, I am beginning to learn that all muses need recharging. ON the plus side they burn brighter when they return. Thanks for your reply.

Martie, blushing.., heh I do try, if I am amazing it is because I am in the company of amazing poets, so some of the talent was bound to rub off on me.

Eve, my partner in rhyme,  you started me on the rhyming road, haven’t looked back since.
I rock? Could be the nicest thing a moth has ever said to me.  Thanking you  and don’t worry you can’t stop an Irish from rant.

Romeo, thanks.

Tammy, I would lead you my old muse but she eloped with my thesaurus.   I know your muse will return, fresh and ready to start writing again. Thanks for your reply.

Corinne, thanks.
