Based on the Android's last words: I have seen Mariners in search of gold The boisterous young in search of old. contented ones in search of sighs repentant ones who lived and died The agile dancers that twirled on glass. The prancing boys! and stumbling lass The plummeters who always fell Their morbid heavens and vivid hells Cathedrals, with awaiting brides Their joyful shouts keening cries The grooms entranced while shedding tears blessing days cursing years The surging eves the waning nights The flapping leaves in limpid skies The nascent suns the dying moons The ebb of tides drift of dunes. The flames of love ice of hates The peaceful doves eagled gates The sadistic hoods inflicting strife The dusk of death the light of life. The bitter real The sweet mirage The beggared meal earned wage. The cowering stare of false romance The truth not dared the lie that chanced. The blur of seconds the crawl of hours The thriving years ... and wilting flowers ... changes of my visage death of my hopes. My last good-byes My need to cope. I've heard the movie is a very good one, but I wonder if it stacks up to this poem. I liked your wonderful economy of words, and how you expressed the ideas. Very cooliolistic. ![]() |

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain." Roy Batty. Radrook, I really enjoyed poem, a great poem inspired by a great movie. To those who want to see Bladerunner, see the directors cut, avoid the other version. El riesgo vive siempre! |

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging feedback! Glad you enjoyed. Thanks Brian for providing the words of the android. It was a good movie. I especially liked the weird architecture with slanting building walls. [This message has been edited by Radrook (10-01-2002 03:48 PM).] |

Hi Irie The movie is about androids that have been programmed to die after about five years. Some rebel against this arrangement. The ones assigned to hunt them down are called Bladerunners. The words of the android are said in reference to his imminent death. The film does not show all the things I describe in the poem. The film only shows the hunting of the android and his efforts to evade capture and ultimate programmed death. But his lust for life is epitomized in his poetic words. It is that lust and regret that I tried to expand on in my poem. Thanks for the encouraging feedback! |
