So wipe the thick fingers of storm from your eyes. Recipes for directionless maps. You are nowhere. You are now here. A circle of levees surrounding, no damming; the pumps themselves are submerged. Drop a stone in; maybe this time the turbines will turn, the water will drain. Bowls of broth heap up on the table. They feed only ears, so poor and brave. Who would buy such a brick as a book, an empty bowl? A book won't build houses; won't keep the swamp out. So save your spoon for the walk back home. I used to love that story "stone soup" it is great the way you turned its message on its head. I had to laugh at the ending, nice twist, and wonderful write. I like it, but I'm not sure I understand the spoon and the walk home. Maybe my mental is kinda blind this morning? I do like the "...recipe for a directionless map.." line the best though. later from a whatheheckamIdoingupthisearly? Jenn "two hearts will build the foundation for one point of light |

So might this one be more literal than it appears? Might you live on the Gulf of Mexico and be writing about Isadore? Ah yes, your reply to the first response. I just may be on to something. This was a fascinating read that rekindled memories of past literary experiences...Stone Soup and an uplifting message of the good news: "Keep your fork." So is the advice about keeping one's spoon so that should one need to dig him/herself out, a tool would be handy or is it because someone might offer sustenance on the way. hehehe I'm so literal sometimes. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Thank you, one and all, for reading this poem which I have attempted to bury the message in fourteen layers deep. lol VAS! You came closest. Temptress, thanks for waking up early. Brian ... It's what VAS said. To dig yourself out. Oh, and VAS, I live in Encino, California, but the feeling's right. Thanks again! |

chuckling... sorry it took me so long to get here...my spoon kept bending...hitting rock, and then I had this ridiculous map, and I stopped to rest, but got absorbed in this book only to find a ludicrous ending...and, and, and... Can I hug ya for this'n... I am grinning like the madwoman that I YAM..that I YAM... ROFLMAO You are a writer's best friend! |

(big hugggssssss) Oh Michael, I could never begin to imagine how many spoons it could take to accumulate the damage a storm like that could do, a soup of stone cannot do much as a soup boiling can amend! (sigh) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Mikey - great write once again, but now I keep thinking of The Matrix, and "there is NO spoon." lol. Enjoyed. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |
