Lean, 'e was; Aye, rapier thin- Sun-baked, an' aged a bit. An' at 'is side, 'e bore a blade, 'e 'ad a soljers kit. "Rum! p'raps a bit o' beef- Is 'at a stew I smell? Ah, serve it up, an' as I eat, I'll spin me tales o' hell!" Ye ken the gotterdammerung? Yon Norsemen speak of oft? Their thoughts o' wha' is 'ard, me lad- I find them passin' soft. I marched wi' Ceasar's Legionaires- Through forest, marsh, an' sand: Where 'e'er Rome's eagles led the way, 'Twas there I lent an 'and. A soljer, aye, and more I guess. Adventurer? Why, yes! An' wild as any 'are o' March! I mought as well confess. The 'our is late, 'tis rest I need! I'll rise when dawn is pale. To walk another lonely mile- So goes the Traveler's Tale. Very well written. I loved the traveller characterization via dialect monologue! Good show! Thanks for sharing! |

Wow, cool writing. I didn't follow this line: An' wild as any 'are o' March! Mebbe the 'postrophes? I guess one becomes content with one’s poetry when one opens the book ten years hence and does NOT exclaim, “Did I really write this?” |

(smiles) Wow, oh my gosh, I miss your wonderful tales so very much, I could see all of ancient Rome and the legionaires reading this, this is excellent, we all love you so much, travel on! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet John, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |
