I first looked for Iberville dock,
thought wrongly that it would be at the base
of the same named street, in East end Montreal.
Relied on a taxi driver who first drove me there
long stretch of Notre Dame spying
for a solitary access to the lonely docks
then whizzed me back to the Old Port..
realized that the lower dock numbers would be there.
but where was number 5?
then visited Cite du Havre...
followed instructions of a port policeman
who directed us to a pier called Bikerdike...
saw pier M5 and what looked like a foreign cargo vessel.
but no enameled cruise vessel in the dark night
not a living soul in sight
where was pier number 5?
drove back to where we met the policeman
continued on...persisted..
thanks to me I finally came up with pier called Iberville
just below Place D'Armes metro stop..
see I never go to the docks
let alone know what their names are..
the cabby didn't know his way around either,
so I had an interesting learning experience.
walked over to the checkpoint,
asked for the person's name and stated mine...
this cop couldn't find either..
it was already 45 min after my appointment
so I waited about another 15
Waiting for Godot?
hoping that the mystery guest would arrive...
he could not be paged
and his cellular phone was not working
that was conformed when I got a message at home.
returned mildly frustrated
didn't enjoy the expenditure
but the view of a top class cruise ship
in harbour at night was well worth the effort.

I noticed something...
The uniqueness of your writing style...what I would call "intellectual poetry", for lack of a better description.  You are a very interesting and educated man, and it reflects so vividly in your writes...
The more emotion in the work, the more texture in the tone of the piece...
Always well written. ThisDiamond

Hello Loner and Diamond,

I have added some 'emotional' bits..but you're right it is different from the mainstream here
