Reflections of Rain ...And so the pounding torrents against my roof subside Into gentler patters upon the pavement, then take up A medium, steady fall, and the lamplight cuts through The shining gloom, the beauty of the rainy day. I know I am loved, out there, someplace where you are In patience and faith. I can see it when you speak of me When my mood is mellower and I fail to detect vinegar, The pungent wine that is my repellant. When arms are opened readily, without intent to push away My tentative step beyond this door, when I need not fear Glinting daggers awaiting me, when I do not feel unwelcome, Then, and only, do I emerge from the darkness behind the wall. And again, I thank you for that whispered melody... A reminder that I have not been forsaken. But I would have you know that it is not love poetry, Nor is it voice that stirs me, though yours is engaging. It is not poetry in motion, but emotion in flow Directly from the spirit of the author, the essence Of what he is made of, that lifts and captures me, That fills the emptiness within and gives completion. |

"It is not poetry in motion, but emotion in flow" ---Yes, my emotion is now in flow, but it is because of your "poetry in motion"! Well done! Earth Angel |

Excellent write! I could just stop there but it’s only fair to tell you why I think that. The matter-of-factness caught me, at first I thought it was a mistake; a lack of depth, but there is depth in your descriptions and imagery so it couldn’t be that. After the second read it struck me, it was the monotone voice of reason and resolution, this was a clear and certain explanation of emotion delivered with the voice of certainty. Or maybe it was just an excellent write. |

Oh my, this is ….heavenly I think. Many lines struck a chord with me, but in particular: I know I am loved, out there, someplace where you are In patience and faith. I can see it when you speak of me (A calm, serene acceptance) And again, I thank you for that whispered melody... A reminder that I have not been forsaken. (And a humble joy at being loved) A wonderful piece of poetry, and one that took me to a wished for piece of my past. You can never win or lose |
