This was a challenge to write a poem as if it would be one's last opportunity to ever write again. Not wanting to set in force any form of prophecy, I decided to go with a lighter approach...lack of supplies.

Last Words

my crystal pen revealed
a waning ink supply
the crystal piggy bank
declining cents comply
the sheets of linen pine
for which to press my pen
were minimizing sure
and nearly at an end
the words and thoughts that come
were pouring from my mind
yet it was apparent, yes quite sure
they’d not fulfill the line
for, though rapidly I fired
them upon the page
no matter my intent
no matter ardent rage
the ink was fading fast
with no replenishing to come
the sheets of linen fell
into silence, fully numb

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

You have a kindred humor to my own and it is one of my best loves. This was an excellent response from a challenging woman!

This is good, inspiring and I think I shall
take the Last Words...and write as though
they might be...just that...
