Dewy beads glistened on her once fevered brow, remnants of the fires that raged up ‘til now. A lustful dream in passion’s light born of their minds in waning night. Stirring embers of hot coals well. One song, twice sung...in mem’ries dwell. By light of moon, in sweet repose, she lingered in his arms. Soaking in his manliness, absorbing all his charms. By glow of eyes in passion’s gleam the want to bathe and share one’s dream. To stand beneath cool roaring falls and hear soft shrill of lone loon’s calls. A wisp of curl lay ‘cross his face as he held her to his chest. The rhythmic cadence of her breath gave way to soothing rest. To feel, to trace, to savor the flight. On fingers graze once ever slight. Where in she bides in warming glow till ‘gain but one, one song they know. The ache of longing, sated now, will rise once more with dawn. Goodness Nancy, are you OK....I felt that all the way down here... BTW...Linda wrote that particular part of the poem and I too liked that closing line, very much... |
