the tall window shows
an uninspiring sight
of a city dressed in grey
shrouded by mysterious clouds,
that even without bearing rain
keep their constant threatening
of a pre-emptive attack
on an end-summer snack
at central park

but even the most feared
strike of million-volt lightning
should do well to know that
a drowning man is not troubled by rain
and even with all the dark clouds
hovering about like satellites
the snack would be ordered
and would be eaten too

and the event of the rain
would be shrugged off
as just another spot of
bad luck -- a twist of fate
an error in judgement
of the higher power
while the hungered mouths
would feed on wet food
and swallow the moist tears

while, the detached spectator
from the dry side of the window
shall sip his next swallow of
fresh orange juice, knowing that
he, the selfish, drowning man
is not troubled by the rain
either!

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Sudhir, God Bless You, I can see thoughts of September 11 through these words and together we all rise and not drown through the tears and darkness! Sudhir,
It is a good write but considering the single author both answers are inevitable.
Enjoyed

Wow. This was a wonderfully creative, intense challenge response. Your drowning man was right outside my window.
