Hi...my first time here and the first ever time I have ever let anybody see one of my dittys..this came about from a train ride recently to Devon with the girl I adore and love so much, everytime I looked at the cornfields passing us by I saw her face in the patterns made by the wind. Just a few comments would be encouraging ...thanks
Faces in the cornfields

As the wind sweeps the corn into shapes and lines
There’s signs of a picture coming into my mind
It’s there….but in a moment it’s gone
I look there again but now I see none

Nature is playing tricks with my eyes
If I told you it would just come out as lies
But I swear to you with my hand on my heart
Your face was there right from the start.

Others have seen things in burning coal fires
In clouds or the patterns from overhead wires
But my eyes found a special way for a picture to build
They see you right there in an English cornfield.

My mind wonders if it’s a trick of the light
Could it be the train windows creating this sight
Or is it the wind or the shining of the sun
I know I’ve been seeing it since our journey begun.

I don’t see patterns or symmetrical squares
And I’m sure of those around me not one of them cares
This is MY vision and it only belongs to me
a picture other passengers will never ever see.

I cant explain why I see your face there
Your features complete, even your hair
Why would I need your picture to see
I have the real thing right next to me.

Hi! Welcome to PIP---I'm a PIPsqueak too! Started a week ago yesterday! I was nervous to post at first, but everyone is so friendly here---they don't bite! In fact, they give lots of hugs! It's like one great big family! I have learned so much since I joined this wonderful poetry forum.

I enjoyed your first posting and will be looking for more!

Love really can do magical things with light, not to mention your mind.
