Spirit of The Owl Winter's glen gray dawn skies no sun up in early morn heaven sighs down the lane tree lined but bare mysteries unfold you didn't know were there snow and ice crunch underfoot walking quiet is impossible trip on root hidden in the deepest recesses of here and then sleeps the spirit of the Owl, answering 'who' at when a discord settles within to break his sleep and from the recesses of his darkness deep the spirit comes, and the Owl then keeps the secret of all time, held in feathered wing and in the most silenced of plume, sweeps off no effort in movement, feathers outstretched through naked limbs, through the breech no sound, no blare, in feathered wing silence overall, no hint of gray ghost on high was it just a vision, or a spirit in the sky silently it sat, as quietly was swept away spirits come to the land in the early morn while the eve still sleeps, before day is born snow and ice crunch underfoot walking quiet is impossible trip on root down the lane tree lined but bare mysteries unfold you didn't know were there winter's glen gray dawn skies no sun up in early morn heaven sighs ©Karilea Rilling Jungel 11 September 2000 |

![]() ![]() ![]() (smiles) Oh Karilea, this is soooooo beautiful, sweet friend, I love snow owls and I too find them to be very mysterious beautiful creatures! (sigh) I remember watching the movie Labyrinth and how the Goblin King represented the snow owl in animal form, it was a great movie! (sigh) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing! ![]() May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

This poem is so impossibly excellent that I don't have words for it, Karilea.... Right now, I also don't have a voice to say those words with.... But at least I can read...and I can write... and I can tell you that I loved it. ![]() ![]() Lyra copyright2002 Lyra Nesius "poetry is life distilled" Gwendolyn Brooks [This message has been edited by Madame Chipmunk (06-26-2002 08:39 PM).] |

Great profile of the secret delight humans have at the slightly dangerous night. In many Indian cultures, the owl is a harbinger of death. "I heard the owl call my name" is a short but beautiful novel by Margaret Craven Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |
