altered state of mind

Oh! To be a bird upon the wing
And soar throughout the sky.
To hear my fellow flockmates sing
as through the air I'd fly.

To feel the updrafts neath my form
and rise with every one.
To flap through the wildest storm,
And ride it 'till its done.

To swoop low across the earth
and skim the grass with claws,
flapping for all i am worth,
avoiding the tomcat's smiling jaws.

To return at dusk to my nest,
and my feathery friends of old.
To watch nature's show at best,
A sunset of purest gold.

To relish each and every day
As if it were a new.
To fly and soar and swoop away,
As all birds often do.

its amazing what one single word can do.

(smiles) Awwwwwwww, I just love this thought of freedom, sweet friend, I too love birds and envy how they can fly with such grace and carelessly sing their sweet songs! (sigh) This is truly a wonderful feeling in your fabulous poem, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Annika, thank you for sharing!
