My son brought this home from school for father's day. I thought it was lovely and wanted to share it with you. I am unsure of whom the author is but the sentiment is wonderful. A Little Child Follows Me A careful dad I aught to be, A little child follows me. I do not dare to go astray, For fear he’ll go the self-same way. Not once can I escape his eyes, What’er he sees me do he tries. Like me he says he’s going to be, That little child who follows me. He thinks that I am good and fine, Believes in every word of mine. The bad in me he must not see, That little child that follows me. I must remember as I go, Though summer sun, winter snow. I’m building for the years to be, My little child who follows me. |
