somebody's dungeon

A friend came by today, caught me feeling blue.
He said, "I just don't know what I'm to do with you".
He marched out to his car, came back carrying a map
made me sit down and put it in my lap.

He told me to open it, spread it out on the floor.
I did it just for him, sometimes he's such a bore.
He said, "Now tell me how many people there might be
covering all the land that spans from sea to sea".
I said, "Probably billions". I wasn't really sure.
I was thinking to myself what a strange kind of cure.

He said, "You are right, billions this is true,
and how many did you say don't like you"?
I sheepishly said three or maybe it was four.
He said, "I rest my case", and walked out the door.
I was left standing with a smile on my face.
He had made his point, my blues had been erased.

Did he help you refold it? I’ve always had trouble with that, but I guess he didn’t have to since he improved your mood with a dusty map.

Twas the old poem I had to dust off, not the map :-) After being out on the road for a year, I became an expert on maps. Not the folding kind though. I thought those were disposable, you read em, then toss em. You mean they're not?

Faces
in plain english there it was
in furrows dug by his past
in maps that may show the way
ah
but who knows how to read maps?

Truly enjoyed this poem
and the lines between the lines.

May love and light always shine upon you!
