The Birth of a Rose

is like the milky
sweet breath
of a baby's yawn;

like imported silk
each petal unfurls, gently
tickled by dew drops

it smiles at the sun
with each warm stroke of color
and becomes a masterpiece.

never knowing what you'll find
still I want you all the time
yeah I do
'cause you get me
