The Mother & the Babe She had quite a lovely body she stood a stance and line, she lovingly carried her babe, almost a full month nine. But one cool, early morn, a bit before the time, the babe it did come about before the full month nine. The mother was in deep distress, her babe, it did not move; Melancholy, it did sit in, as if death it did behoove. Mother stayed there by its side she would not give up hope. Father came and lingered there, as if to help her cope. Now if I were you, I would shed a tear, for the very next part of this story here. The mother, a Hereford, did give birth, the babe, disfigured, fell to earth; Mother, she licked, and was quite forlorn, she struggled over her dead babe born. The father, black Angus, came around, saw the babe upon the ground; and in the way of bull and cow, licked the mother's sorrowed brow. I know that life here on this earth, ends with death, begins with birth; animals have live feelings, oh please believe, and do not think just humans grieve. ~*~ ©KRJ Karilea Rilling Jungel 10 February, 2000 revised 1 August 2002 |

Karilea I know this to be true. This touched me, as I have been a magnet for animals in need of heart...and I have heard them tell me thank you. |

Oh this made me cry. What a loving picture you painted of animals in mourning. |

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Karilea, this is soooooooo sadly beautiful, I too believe with all my heart animals share all the same emotions as we do and that they can feel everything we feel! When I was a little boy, I had a kitten that died from a fever, then shortly after her death, my canary would always fly around the house but then she would land on my shoulder and warble, and I truly feel it was because it knew how I felt and offered me compassion! (BIG HUGGGSSSSSSS) God Bless You, sweet friend, this deeply touched my heart, we all love you so much, I'm adding this to my library and I'm going to print it out to share with others who love btheir pets dearly with your permission! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." This is so true, Karilea... We have a birdfeeder on our deck, and earlier this evening, we were watching as a female cardinal ate her dinner and her mate sat by and made sure that she stayed safe. We have seen the cardinals do this many times before....We have also seen other birds do it...so they do have emotions and I am sure that they mourn. A lovely poem, by the way... ~ sad hugs Lyra |
