That ancient rib is back
the one man never needed
and it's placement is confining to my heart

It has been so long
since I breathed a hearty song
I sometimes fear I'll lose the festive art

The sun is an assault
it's heat slams shut all doors
the wide world as confining as a drawer

Far too many smirks,
not smiles, from greed eyed people
who think that human commerce is a war

Life so full of tears
that ideal Love's an ocean,
sorrow's hilltop makes me a mountain man

The crowd swells so
that strange is commonplace,
amusement for moving faces in a van

Wanting you so badly
went badly so sadly
went you for my want of you

My seventeenth thousandth
eight hundred sixty fifth day
vacuumed all my hope

So somber, frozen faced
I lay and contemplate
the gun, the knife, the rope

a truly powerful piece, this certainly packs a punch ~

"The sun is an assault
it's heat slams shut all doors
the wide world as confining as a drawer"

i found this totally unique, the last stanza hits hard

Awesome

Richard

Some promises should never be made. To cry is part of what makes love so grand.

Slip knot thee into the gray
my rope is broke, I hang on fray
I braid the strings into an end
and now at least my rope's in mend.

Couldn't help it, Richard...not after the promise...

Sir, you are an amazing writer!
This one stopped me cold...
