Hello, mr. white man. What'll it be today? Three cartons of Camels? Coming right up... What's that? Oh, yes, we're always busy here on the reservation. No tax makes our cigarettes much cheaper as you well know. Yes, we're lucky... Lost our lands lost our heritage lost our culture but we get to sell cigarettes tax-free so I guess that's something... What did I say? Oh, I'm just ramblin' Old ramblin' injun, that's me. Here, let me bag those up for you.. You need to quit? Lotta people feel that way. Well, you know they're deadly. They say cigarettes kill more people than all other illnesses combined but what's not dangerous in this life, right? Man's gotta have some simple pleasures, don't you agree? OK, then. Nice talking to you. Come on back when you run out. We're always open... Bring your friends. |

Our lucky night...free verse from Balladeer as well...and isn't this right? They are running the casinos as well...and I wish them the best...they will end up getting all of it back, and the white man's greed WILL be our downfall... Thanks for this... |

Too true. The White men jerked around the Indians, now it's our turn to lose. What is life without poetry and adventure? |

(big hugggssssss) Oh Balladeer, I find this true with all my heart, much of my ancestry is from Cherokee Native Indians and I too find it sad how white mans imperialist ways through history has hurt so many and I wish we can all be thankful for what we have and celebrate our differences and traditions! (sigh) This is powerful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Balladeer, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Well Balladeer, where have you been? I haven't seen you in a while. I enjoyed this as much as I do everything else you write. |

I can't improve on Seymour's reply. *S* But if I thought a few profits would erase all injustices, I'd start smoking. *S* |

Perfect...absolutely perfect, Michael... and they are getting their sweet revenge on us, aren't they... but don't forget the tobacco companies.... do you think that people who have gotten ill because of tobacco will ever get revenge on them. Maybe they should all be forced into a hotel banquet room together...and forced to smoke one cigarette after another for 30 days straight....and of course the windows would have to be shut tight and all the ventilation turned off... Thanks for sharing your free verse with us. ~ chipmunk hugs Lyra |

’Deer dearest heart, this is simply perfect, you know that of course, and FV from you is such a special treat. The format suits this perfectly, and thr message is utterly utterly right on the money. Do I love this YOU have to know I do? Actually I don’t have an issue with smoking per se, I believe it is the right of the individual to chose. However I do realise that it is in the tobacco companies interests not to perfect a product that isn’t addictive, and that by the time most people are aware of the dangers of smoking it is too late they are hooked. And just like any other drug the withdrawal of it causes agonies. Luckily for me I don’t smoke but I can raise a fire Mmmm! Excellent writing and I love it utterly. I would have replied to this earlier but I’ve not been able to get on the site until just now. Love and warm stuff As always Mushy Breathe through the heat of our desire Thy coolness and they balm Let sense be dumb let flesh retire Speak through the earthquake wind and fire [This message has been edited by Marsha (07-26-2002 09:36 PM).] |

Well, well. well!!! What do we have here? The master has succumbed to free verse. And it is wonderful, even if it doesn't rhyme. Good one Liz |
