You say that you love me and want me to stay
You say that you care, but this you never show
I feel so confused inside I don't know what to do
Whether I should stay and wait or give up and go

I remember all of the things you once said to me
All of the things you claimed you wanted too
Before you shut me out and started walking away
I thought everything you had said to me was true

I opened up my heart and let you see what was inside
This was something I never did with anyone before
You took it all for granited as if it didn't mean anything
I could feel the door to my heart closing even more

To protect myself from the pain you keep on giving me
Even after hearing all of the things I had been through
You still insisted on doing all of the things you were doing
Now I can no longer share what's inside my heart with you

If only you had cared enough to listen to what I was saying
Instead of walking away each time I tried to talk to you
And always putting me down the way you always did
Then maybe our love would be like it was when it was new

Maybe...maybe you, not threatening, but really walking away, will shake him to his wits again...don't know, sometimes it works.

But then...when it works...where will you stand...for it never can be the same again as it was before...you may forgive him, but forgetting...is something else, that's the hard part.
