Like a blanket I will cover you In the depths of your despair I can visit you at will As I trap you in my lair I am dark and forboding Not pleasant in the least I now have you in my power You cannot tame this beast I prey on those most vulnerable When gloom is knocking at your door I come in many shapes and forms Inside your mind I eagerly explore 'tho I'm there you cannot see me Your imagination running wild Sometimes you curl up like a foetus And you wish you were a child Most times I can be treated But I seldom go away I'm like a virus in your mind Deep inside is where I lay * * * * I wrote this as a challenge poem but was also writing it from personal experience for I suffered post natal depression after the birth of my daughter in 1992. Sue: It must have been a horrible experience for you to go through. I hae known depressed people and it's such a struggle for them to get through even one day. Very well done. Betty Lou Hebert |

Such beautiful insight into such darkness. I think sometimes it is a calling when some can express these things for others from the reality of it. Takes much courage. ThisDiamond |

Sue I hope the depression never rears it's ugly head and shows it's face again. There is nothing worse. Thank goodness you were able to get through it but I know it wasn't easy. (big hugggssssssss) Oh Sue, this is so very sad, sweet friend, I'm sorr yyou went through depression, I'm happy you are much better now but it makes me sad thinking about it because when I was a little boy I was depressed every day up till I was about 14; I almost wouldn't be living now if it wasn't for my dad helping me out. Sometimes I still feel sad like now when I miss my Joanna so so much because she is so beautiful to me and I am scared I might lose my angel and I want to love her! (sigh) This is so sad but powerfully written, sweet friend, you are a true angel and I know you must have had a lot of strength writing this, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |
