How can it be that my words
are metaphorically aggressive
used to illustrate my desire
declarations in the suggestive

Can I not just illustrate
in figurative way of speech
a pun used to pique your fancy
since you are out of my reach

In profession of these feelings
hidden in the humor of my rhyme
sparked by pun and allegory
with the innuendo to time

I seek the smile that only you
can bestow upon this page
born of wisdom, grace and love
simmered in the heart of a sage

Understand the phrase I pen
tremble not as I write my seeking
let me have what’s in your heart
metaphorically speaking

well, sharon, i asked this same question a while back when the snake tempted me under a tree... hehehehehe

but i am eve in disguise so i offered a bite of apple and then you  wouldn't believe where i ended up!!

it was....... allegorically, metaphorically, infriggingcredible!!! but that's just a garden story for adults maybe

but my point is this...

great poem!!!

Someone once told me that good poetry describes something totally with imagery, and not with the words which are usually used to describe it...
and I think thats what you have done so very well with this poem...
Its a metaphor of a metaphor

How you do this over and over again with such grace amazes me.
As the saying goes " A picture is worth a thousand words"
This poem is worth a thousand pictures.  Paul

okay
you've stolen it away
I hope that that's okay
for I'm quite timid to say
as you may
not have meant to say
or make me feel this way
any of an hour of this day
but I guess that's the price you pay
for making a metaphorical generality

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
