As they sat on the beach and he held her hand.
She knew in her heart he was the right man.
He pulled her close and held her tight.
In her heart she knew this felt right.

He kissed and touched her as she felt the thrills.
She knew this was how love would feel.
As they lay together after sharing their love.
They knew their love was sent from heaven up above.

They never thought about what might come.
That later on they would be blessed with a son.
She was 16 and he 18 on that day.
When their lives changed in so many ways.

He got called to the war right after they wed.
"I`ll love you forever" were the last words he said.
Now as she holds her son and goes out the door.
She`ll say goodbye to her love she`ll see no more.

As the folded flag is placed in her hand.
She says goodbye as she touches her wedding band.
I`ll love you forever though we`re now apart.
But you will always be the love of my heart.

My foot hurts like hell but it will be alright.If you get a chance go to White Crow and read the poem on my broken foot.That is what got me back writing again.TAKE CARE!

War is a cruel god.He shows no concern for love.Your poem shows that those who fall are not the only cassualties of war.There should be a memorial at the wall for those who lost their loved ones.
