His prattle
was
just background drone--
his very breath
a monotone-
my mind became
a hidden park
as I prodded
fire
to spark.

Martyred ears
begged a reprieve,
my eyes
in glaze
eternal ring
a "tra-la-la's"
eternity--
a feast of doughnut--
stale.

*this was going to be my answer to the challenge, but tsk to the slow woman on the keyboard for the goof. grins and curses.<---sounds like a rock band to me! *

Now, now..let's not judge all doughnuts by one hole.

Sometimes? It's all in the filling!

Thanks for reading...

aw mikey...now you KNOW--it's almost impossible for me to use that phrase without being wickedly unkind to "him"--heh heh...er...sigh...wait awhile. I'm sure he'll inspire me to new depths of depravity, sooner or later! sigh

Eating doughnuts takes time
and will turn your shape into a pear
but eating the hole is faster
and there are no calories in that piece of air

Why is everyone trying to make me hungry today?
First Mr.Toe's poem about bbq and now this one about doughnuts.....
sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to fit into my dress for my stepdaughter's wedding tomorrow and I'm trying to stay away from food today, just to make sure it isn't too tight.
And you guys have to tempt me...
Great poem, though...calories and all

Ah! I finally get to read your take on this.
Glad I stumbled upon it. (things move so very quickly, here in Open).

BTW, That chap could be a little...frustrating?

no seuss here
monotone breath? wonderful words!

on behalf of my gender, "hey!"
some of us just need the very direct approach =)
i enjoyed this MUCH, even if i must be compared to a stale doughnut.

it's our struggle for identity that leaves us all unknown

(I am losing my frigging mind...groan...)--

actually, this might come as a shock to all of you, but I am actually sort of quiet in the day-to-day--and the fiance'? hmm...He likes to talk--ALOT--about NOTHING---OVER AND OVER AGAIN...it can be maddening at times...(I don't WISH to hear the plot to Terminator 2--if I thought it HAD a plot, I'd have watched it myself...) groan..you get the idea...
