An occasional breeze fluttering a lid moistening an eye, drying a tear as two minds apart share thoughts. Each standing against a rail light winds billowing softest cotton Flashes of red mixed with green lighting the dark horizon A lighthouse beckoning to sailors... Saying “beware” “steer clear” The brilliance reflecting in an eye’s gleam A blink letting another tear fall Why, she asks, standing proud at the rail A sad but determined gaze burning into the night. Why must I always say goodbye Why must I always cry A distant horn sounds a familiar low note One heard many times before She could remember the last time that horn sounded Seeing him there high above her with those gentle eyes eyes that comforted her and protected her. She fell in love with those eyes. A second sound of the horn, a long blast and two shorts.... The letter “D”, she knew this, for he had taught her. And again, the blast of the horn, the letter “I”, then “L”, then a “U”.....and all was quiet.. But, it didn’t matter...that was enough.... “D” for Donna.....said those three words bringing yet another tear to fall and most of all.....a smile.....and hope... |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Barry, this is sad but has so much beauty and hope in it too, sweet friend, it can be so heartaching to say goodbye but to always hold that lovers name to heart is a keepsake that is priceless! (sigh) This is very well-said, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Magnus hi there this is exceedingly good writing, you always write the scene so well it plays clearly on my mind, and this tearful but the echo of hope is incredible. Magnus, I'm not sure but I think your poetry has grown or have I changed. I just know I love your work. You touch that tender romantic side that is so important to life. I really like this. Such a good man you are. Thanks. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |
