Desert Dancer
By: Noah Eaton
7/16/02

Awake and dreaming
Trodding trodden saffron trails
Bawling my eyes out for some kaleidoscope lenses
So I can stare right through this Davy Lamp sun through the sandstorm veil

Oh, I have walked further than you can ever imagine
But I've only gotten closer away
Abandoning my ship and running for the boondocks
Stumbling over mountains of salt, a senseless renegade

Swaying my arms
Belly-dancing to each footstep
Dancing with the Desert Dancer
Awake and dreaming
With Arabic eyes
Resembling the Desert Dancer

I'm alone seeking the answer to all my loves desires
Hidden from me as Daphne hiding from Apollo
Following gypsy flames to the faceless danseuse
Learning to drink the sun to relax this soul

Developing my shape-shifting
To make cumulonimbus of cirrus
Summoning the rain to imbue this garden of genips
To spend my time working to glow as bright as Sirius

Swaying my arms
Belly-dancing to each footstep
Dancing with the Desert Dancer
Awake and dreaming
With Arabic eyes
Resembling the Desert Dancer

Burying yesterdays into the shallow ground
Building a bridge to Daphni which the naked eye cannot perceive
My heart beating with the thunder of a thousand passing wild horses
Shouting for the oncoming possession of ecstasy

"Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..."

Shakira

Noah your imagery is as impressive as your vocabulary and imagination. This paints so many scenes and colors in the readers mind.

Noah,
I loved this one, I am sure you must have revised and revised on your original idea until you got this one so very right.
Your words painted a picture as I read, especially the 'so descriptive' last two lines:-
"My heart beating with the thunder of a thousand passing wild horses, Shouting for the oncoming possession of ecstasy"!!!
Go to the top of the class!!
Kind thoughts,
John
Post Script!! In one of my postings yesterday about the drunken womaniser, I was not writing about myself !!!   LOL, but thank you for your sympathy, sweet Noah!!

Someone who thinks logically provides a nice contrast to the real world.

Wonderful lines! And as for the bridge...I think I saw it.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
