Slow Mans’ Land

I sold my home
in order to prop
a failing business
up

Only to learn
that a rental
for a family of three
was impossible to find
when two of said three
belonged to family
Canine

We three were rescued
when a friend offered
up
a river shack
that he owned
to let
for modest rent

So, I settled us in
and life continued
as Alice would have it
hurrieder
behinder

I was caught
in a No Mans’ Land
of bills and deadlines
schedules and accounts
credits and debits
tax forms and paper

I was consumed
In a misguided effort
to justify my existence

Then, the inevitable,
as it always does,
happened

The house went for naught
The business was lost

And I found myself
at a regular job
And I found myself
with time to read books
And I found myself
on a deck by this river
And I found myself
with music I loved
And I found myself
in a place so much better

Now, the world can find
me
at peace with itself
here
in Slow Mans’ Land

Here ya go

This is great...and I empathize with the canines, having three of my own.

who needs narratives?
you are saying it all
and saving the typing
"the world can find me here..."

friend wranx
have ridden along that river
on the old harly a few times
when she gives up her lungs
I hope is is close enough
to push her under a tree there

You really showed
how the slow river flows.

You and the Harly (now corpse) would be most welcome. Just listen for some Miles Davis and follow your ear

I am honored, too, by your read. Thanks

the road traveled may have been one of hardship, but the ending almost seems like touch of heaven to me..

YAY!!! Oh my gosh, I love this sweet friend, I wish the world was really like this and the whole capitalistic system fell and was replaced by a more friendlier and pastoral kind of enterprise that can allow us to reach out to our loved ones more and find peace! (big hugggssssss) This is well-said, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Wranx, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

(gotta love the Damndogs. Smiling here..a friend of mind had a singular Damndog...they called her D.d., wisely before their little girl learned to talk)

I love your stories. I wouldn't mind sharing a yarn or two on your deck...I'll bring me own beer...I'll bring yours too, if I can listen to the spin of this until the wee hours!
