Listening to every heart

Purple Days to Come
[best to be read slowly…Enchantress, this means you]

I am going to grow old
gracefully
and revel in quiet
and peace
and books
and leaf
through the passages
one by one by one

and I shall wear purple
socks and hats and gloves and lingerie robes
perhaps not all at once
but to amuse grandchildren
maybe I will

yes I will wear purple
and have white hair
and wear my glasses
while sipping tea
and there shall
be wine at the
required time, half past today

when this time comes
as it must and shall
I will leaf
the pages of friends
once well met
in blue walls of passion

some will have gone away
some will have stayed
in the pages I leaf
friends well met
never to forget

and I shall see you
all in purple’s haze
even on the sunniest days
in the spirit’s realm
in sonnets sung
at Cap’n’s helm
on Cape Cod’s bay

Seattle shall call
the Floridian skies
to meld upon pages
before my eyes,

a western maiden
in tangled tress
and yet another
who's depth is blessed
and still a poet
who would sing
of paved roads
and trees with rings

Texas troubadours
too shall meet
balladeers shall sing
looking suthern in mem’ry
and devinely
hear the call
of an Aussie sweet

and in the cold
of northern clime
I’ll find sweet poet’s
rhyme of days of
yore
forevermore

here, held
in my hands
veined in purple
to match
the rest of me

and forever shall
painters of prose
permit
purple to hold
sunshine…

WOW!!! Oh my gosh, I love the universal approach you give this, sweet friend, I indeed remember reading this sometime ago (I forget the Open forum number). (smiles) And no matter the weather I too will always remember your sun-shining words that grace all across the world of Passions too, sweet friend, this is a wonderful tribute for all, we all love you so much! And I shall have a purple rinse put in my hair...
This is such a lovely dedication to the purple poet people of Passions..
I mean, the dedicated poets of Passions,

I got white hair and wear a purple cape when I ride at night and flash the donut hostesses working the midnight to six at krispy kream..but I ain't old....well compared to Dirt and his brother Time anyway..
