For My Daughter Sami I Thought I Did It seems these days I'm sharing you with memories Of days that once had a place to remain Nothing gentle to hold onto we take what we're handed So, quickly I gathered what's left of this bitter rain... I move on in direction of sane not really sure which way that is Just to catch myself reliving the truth I've always known I thought I prayed with the mighty winds at my side I thought I did, hard enough, that I wouldn't have to let you go... Grace doesn't sing to me anymore beneath the skies of that sun Laughter doesn't encirlce me in it's dance for great strength I thought I whispered loud enough how much I love you I thought I did when we were in the middle of the end... Just if I could wake from this dream of a moment still seen Stand on hope when waters from the skies are about to give I thought I held you, long enough, in my arms Oh, God, I swear, I thought I did... The last look from your eyes at the end of the day Left me in the Lord please help me kind of way Through it all I searched for a little peace to find As I thought I did glance as you looked that second time... I could have sworn the heavens saw us there About to send pieces of harmony everywhere I thought I heard you say you love me too in that empty moment we lived Oh, God, I really thought you did...
